A suivre : grosso modo, avec Deng Xiaoping, l’idéologie était très pragmatique. Il s’agissait d’essayer tout et n’importe quoi, pourvu que ça marche, y compris des méthode hyper-capitalistes. Ceci avait été résumé dans l’expression : « un pays, deux systèmes », puisque le capitalisme était sensé resté confiné aux « zones économiques spéciales » (Hong-Kong, depuis 1999, Shanghai, GhuangZou, …). Certes, le parti communiste, parti unique, était resté bien prégnant.
